Description

Transform ordinary carrots into an extraordinary snack with this simple recipe. These tangy chips satisfy all your cravings while keeping you on track with healthy eating goals.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 23 medium carrots, washed and peeled (if desired)
  • 12 tablespoons white vinegar (or apple cider vinegar for a milder taste)
  • 1/41/2 teaspoon salt (sea salt or Himalayan pink salt recommended)
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil (optional, for coating)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Carrots: Wash your carrots thoroughly. Peel if desired. Slice carrots into thin rounds or “chip” shapes (~1/8 inch thick). A mandoline slicer works best for even results.
  2. Combine Ingredients: Place the sliced carrots in a medium bowl.
  3. Add the Vinegar: Drizzle 1 tablespoon vinegar over carrots. Add more if you like a stronger tangy flavor.
  4. Season with Salt: Sprinkle 1/4 teaspoon salt evenly. Adjust to taste.
  5. Add Oil (Optional): For extra richness and better coating, add 1 teaspoon olive oil.
  6. Toss Thoroughly: Toss well with clean hands or a spoon until all slices are evenly coated.
  7. Serve Immediately: Enjoy fresh, or use one of the crisping methods below.
  8. Oven Method: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Arrange slices on a parchment-lined baking sheet in a single layer. Bake 15–25 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and crispy. Watch closely to prevent burning.
  9. Air Fryer Method: Arrange slices in a single layer in an air fryer basket. Air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 10–15 minutes, shaking every 5 minutes until crispy.

Notes

  • Experiment with different vinegars—apple cider vinegar creates a mellower, slightly sweet tang.
  • This recipe is naturally vegan and dairy-free.
  • For reduced sodium, start with a pinch of salt and adjust gradually.
  • Don’t overcrowd your oven or air fryer—space allows even airflow for maximum crispiness.
