Description

Deliciously soft and chewy red velvet cookies topped with creamy frosting, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup Butter, softened
  • 1 cup Brown Sugar
  • 3/4 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 2 teaspoons Pure Vanilla Extract
  • 1 to 2 teaspoons Red Food Coloring
  • 3 Tablespoons Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
  • 2 1/2 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 teaspoon Cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 3/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 6 Tablespoons Butter, softened (for frosting)
  • 8 ounces Cream Cheese, softened
  • 3 1/2 cups Powdered Sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 385°F (196°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar for about 4 minutes until fluffy.
  3. Add eggs, vanilla extract, and red food coloring, mixing for another minute until combined.
  4. Gently fold in cocoa powder, flour, cornstarch, baking soda, and salt until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
  5. Scoop the cookie dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them at least two inches apart.
  6. Bake for 9 to 10 minutes until slightly soft in the center. Let sit on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.
  7. For frosting, whip softened butter and cream cheese until creamy, then gradually add powdered sugar, mixing until smooth. Thin with milk if desired.
  8. Once cookies are cool, frost generously with the cream cheese frosting.

Notes

Store frosted cookies in an airtight container in the refrigerator for best texture. They can last about a week.
